Redundancy is not one specific device or one checkbox. It is an architectural principle: avoid relying on a single communication path, receiver, network segment or processing component where failure would interrupt alarm reception.

Questions to ask during a technical review

  • How many independent reception paths exist?
  • What happens when the primary internet connection is unavailable?
  • How are receivers and services monitored?
  • How is failover tested?
  • How are missed, delayed or recovered signals identified in the event history?
